WE NEED YOUR HELP!! PLEASE STAND WITH US!

Do you or anyone you know have experience(s) with purchasing either a puppy or kitten (or any animal) from a pet store that you believe have been wronged by? Did you purchase a pet and then your pet became sick from a preventable genetic disease/illness, or did your pet have major behavioural issues; either days, weeks, months or even years later? Are you an ex employee? Are you willing to speak up?!
PLEASE SHARE!
We NEED help to expose the TRUTH with regards to pet store’s continuing to sell puppies and kittens from unknown sources. Many pet stores support rescue groups by showcasing adoptable animals in their facilities, these are not the pet stores that we are interested in, as they are helping to reduce the ever increasing pet population issue by allowing a physical space for rescue groups to home, unwanted animals from overcrowded shelters. Rather we are primarily concerned with the pet stores who continually buy animals that are being bred for the retail industry; either from brokers/ breeders/ unknown sources. When a breeding facility is not routinely regulated to ensure humane treatment of the animals in their care, then neglect, abuse and torment may also be what they are breeding. We are simply concerned of the health of ALL animals found in breeding facilities, both their physical/mental well being.

Action is needed! Your statement of your experience(s) please include as much detailed info as you can, we will NEVER disclose any of your information without your consent. If you have receipts, contracts, vet bills etc… that will help solidify your experience than we want to hear from you!! We are simply compiling information that will help us to stand strong against pet stores who are continuing to buy and sell puppies and kittens who may not be coming from responsible/humane sources.

Please, the suffering that your pet store animal endured or continues to endure may not be for nothing;

WE NEED TO STOP THE SALE OF BOTH PUPPIES AND KITTENS FROM BEING SOLD IN RETAIL ESTABLISHMENTS AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!

  ENCOURAGE YOUR LOCAL PET STORES TO BECOME PUPPY FRIENDLY

Pet store owners who sign and return the pledge which declares that they promise to discontinue selling puppies in their store by the end of 2009, and/or those who “make official” a current policy of not selling any puppies, will be listed on the HSI Canada website.

Pet Stores who sign will also receive materials to display promoting their decision and to educate their customers on adopting a pet or finding a responsible dog breeder.

If you are a consumer who work with local pet stores encourage them to develop and implement “puppy friendly” policies by refusing to sell puppies in their store and supporting shelter adoptions instead.

Great news!!

Local pet stores here in Victoria B.C. Canada have signed the HSI Canada’s ”Puppy Pledge” not to sell puppies in their store. Please show your support and visit these pioneering pet stores either in person or by clicking the banners below.

If you would like to see your own local pet store make the same kind of commitment please download HSI Canada’s “Puppy Pledge” form and approach them. We believe that this will add much needed pressure to the remaining pet stores that continue to sell puppies, lets work together towards a “Puppy Mill Free Country!”
